Diuretic; Tonifies the Spleen; Warms Yang.   1) Water buildup, a greater Yang-stage disorder in which the pathogenic influences have not been released from the Exterior, but have penetrated to the greater Yang organ, the Bladder. 2) Water and Dampness are not properly transformed by the Spleen and transported to the Bladder. The effects of the Spleen's failure to transform and transport Water may be felt throughout the Triple Burner. 3) Retention of congested fluids in the Lower Burner obstructing the Pure Yang.  Acute gastroenteritis; Breathlessness; Cholera; Cough; Diarrhea; Dizziness; Dysuria; Fever; Great thirst due to inappropriate sweating (vomiting soon after drinking); Headache; Oedema; Oliguria; Sensation of heaviness; Throbbing sensations below umbilicus; Urinary tract infection; Vomiting; Vomiting, expectoration of foamy saliva; Ascites (cirrhosis of liver); Chronic nephritis; Cirrhosis; Hydrocele; Ménière's disease; Tongue with a white-greasy coating; Tongue with a white-slippery coating; Floating pulse (Fu); Slippery-Wiry pulse (Hua Xian); Soft pulse (Ru).  
 
Gui Zhi Tang
Cinnamon Twig Decoction; Ramulus Cinnamomi Decoction
Eliminates Cold and Wind from the Exterior and Tendino-Muscle channels; Harmonizes Nutritive-Qi and Defensive-Qi; Promotes sweating.   Externally-contracted Wind-Cold leading to an exterior Cold deficient condition (fever and spontaneous sweating). The Defensive-Qi is unable to guard the Exterior and the Nutritive-Qi is unable to nourish and stabilize the Interior. This formula may also be used in treating such biomedically-defined disorders as upper respiratory tract infection, influenza, postpartum fever, allergic rhinitis, angioedema, cerebrovascular spasm, eczema and urticaria.  Aversion to wind; Headache; Eczema; Fatigue (especially in the morning); In cases with high fever, the pulse is faster but relatively slow if compared with other diseases showing identical fever; Rhinitis; Skin rashes; Pink tongue, thin-white coating; Floating-Moderate pulse (Fu Huan).
